Women Masons in Royal Albert Hall Spectacular
The Order of Women Freemasons –
The Honourable Fraternity of Ancient
Masonry – which began life with both
male and female members, celebrated its
centenary at the Royal Albert Hall in June.
There were men and women guests
as more than 4,000 members of the
Order and their guests attended the
event, which began with a procession of
Grand Officers, with the entry of the
Grand Master heralded by a fanfare of
trumpets.
There was a parade of each lodge
banner, and a procession of officers of
other Orders. There then followed a
cavalcade, in words and music, celebrating
the history of women’s Freemasonry.
Emphasising its charitable side, the
Order gave donations of £250,000 each to
representatives of Cancer Research UK
and MacMillan Nurses.
Royal Masonic Variety Show for November
Every two years on Remembrance Sunday,
9th November, a spectacular and popular
Variety Show is held at the Prince of Wales
theatre, Coventry Street, Leicester Square,
London. This is the sixth such show and
promises to be another great success.
A wide variety of artistes are appearing,
including many currently appearing in
West End musicals. Subject to
availability, we can look forward to
seeing such as students of Italia Conti,
Billy Pearce, Emma Bunton, Dave Lee,
Claire Sweeney, Lionel Blair, Will Young,
Allan Stewart, Joe Longthorne and
Bradley Walsh.
Further artistes appearing
will be confirmed on the website:
www.royalmasonicvarietyshow.org.uk
This event draws Freemasons from all
over England and Wales, and many form
a coach party for the travel and the
discounts available on tickets offered for
group bookings. Tickets begin at £125,
including pre-show drinks and the aftershow
party, £100 which
includes the after-show
party, and £60 for the
best remaining seats.
A show such as this not
only provides a great
night out for Freemasons
and their families but,
due to the large number
of non-masons also
attending, raises the
profile of Freemasonry in
the community in a
direct and positive
manner.
The Royal Masonic
Variety Show is in aid of
charity and to date over
£100,000 has been raised for masonic and
non-masonic charities by the previous
shows. Half of the proceeds will be paid
to the Royal Masonic Benevolent
Institution.
