Lincolnshire Launch 2014 Festival

The Province of Lincolnshire has launched the 2014 Festival in support of the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys (RMTGB), which was held at the County Assembly Rooms, Lincoln.
RMTGB Chief Executive Les Hutchinson gave a presentation entitled When Tragedy Strikes and shared details of some of the recent cases that the Trust has been able to assist.
Keith Emmerson, Deputy RMTGB Chairman and Chairman of its Petitions Committee, spoke on the theme Relieving Poverty, Advancing Education. He explained how the Trust is a poverty charity and outlined the types of distress that could qualify a family for support.
Les Hutchinson also gave a presentation on Their Future in Your Hands and concluded with a recent success story and an illustration of the beneficial effects of the support provided.
Deputy Provincial Grand Master John Hockin, outlined the targets for the Festival and the part each Lodge and mason in the Province would have to take to ensure it was a success. The launch concluded with an address by Provincial Grand Master Graham Ives.
There are currently 29 beneficiaries from Lincolnshire receiving the care and protection of the RMTGB. In the last twelve months, almost £106,000 was expended on these beneficiaries alone.
Over the last five years this expenditure increases to almost £543,000. In addition, the RMTGB is supporting Choristers at Lincoln Cathedral and St James’s Parish Church, Great Grimsby. The Province was last in Festival in 2003 when they raised £2.6m toward the work of the Masonic Samaritan Fund – the original target had been £1.5m.

Grand Stewards Support RMTGB

RMTGB President Mike Woodcock has received a cheque for £7,500 from the Grand Stewards’ Lodge at their installation meeting held in January.
The cheque was presented by the Master Derek Mottershead in the presence of Ian Fairclough, who retired from the RMTGB Council last year and Mike Green, who retires this year – both Past Masters of the lodge – and Ege Parker, who also retires from the Council this year.
The RMTGB is a regular recipient of support from the Grand Stewards’ Lodge and thanks the members for their continued generosity.
